Report # 112. U.S. HIMARS killed 53 Ukrainian POWs kept in DPR

July 29, 2022

1.  Ukraine had a reason to kill its own POWs

Bloody provocation was purposefully perpetrated by Kiev regime early morning on July 29.

US-made HIMARS MLRS struck a detention center near Yelenovka, the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) controlled by DPR, where Ukrainian servicemen, including captured Azov fighters, were being held as POWs. The facility in Yelenovka also held members of Ukraine’s Azov Battalion, whose fighters surrendered to Russian and Donbass forces during the siege of the Azovstal steel mill in Mariupol. The battalion is notorious because it includes fighters with nationalist and neo-Nazi views.

Due to this attack 53 Ukrainian POWs were killed and 75 injured. In addition, eight employees of the detention center were injured as well.

It was not the first attempt made by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). They tried to eliminate them several times by shelling the detention center by long-range artillery and MLRS.

Some parts of the used HIMARS missiles have production numbers identifying that they have been manufactured in the USA.

This blatant provocation was committed in order to intimidate Ukrainian servicemen and prevent their surrender.

The second reason is that Ukrainian president wanted to eliminate key eye witnesses of his war crimes because he and his pals are afraid that Ukrainian POWs that were held at this detention center could tell a lot about the orders given by the Office of president Zelensky how to torture and to kill civilians having no desire to live in a failed, ultra-nationalist and banderist state called Ukraine.

Speaking to Russia’s TV Channel One, DPR head Denis Pushilin claimed that the Ukrainians “deliberately” targeted the detention center in order to kill Azov members who had been providing testimonies about possible war crimes by their commanders.

The circumstances of this provocation and criminal act are being investigated. The Investigative Committee of Russia has already opened a criminal case after the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the detention center in Yelenovka.

Eduard Basurin, spokesman for the People’s Militia of the DPR, commented on the HIMARS strike by the AFU in Yelenovka. “This location was determined by the Ukrainian side itself when it negotiated the surrender, so they were held here all together. After the Ukrainian POWs began to talk about the crimes they had committed under the orders of the Ukrainian political authorities, the U.S. HIMARS system was struck here. The Ukrainian authorities even went as far as using this type of weaponry, of which they have very few, to silence those military personnel who started to tell the truth about what was happening here in Donbass,” he told reporters.
